Positions training as a strategic pillar in the protection of the Canadian Bank, our customers, and stakeholders, and signals this importance to Regulators. The role leverages opportunities to achieve operational efficiency and effectiveness of training requirements. Provides oversight, and governance of Canadian Banking regulatory, licensing, and accreditation training activities, to maximize effectiveness, and minimize risk of non-compliance and cost. The role also leads efforts to standardize training development, reporting and measurement

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

Lead Oversight, Monitoring & Reporting for regulatory training requirements within the Canadian bank by:

  • Guiding the CB Training Oversight committee as secretary, providing training recommendations to senior leaders in areas of training approach, reporting, assessment & measurement frameworks.
  • Ensuring completion policies, guidelines, and follow up procedures are applied per committee decisions.

Measure Training Effectiveness by:

  • Monitoring the relationship between training investment and planned outcomes for all CB regulatory training programs.
  • Standardizing training distribution by establishing guidelines and frameworks in employee identification.
  • Creating an annual review framework to ensure employees receive all necessary training
  • Recommending and implementing improvements in approaches, frameworks, and guidelines.
  • Driving continuous analysis and identification of opportunities, gaps, and risks

Pursue Efficiency and Innovation in training design by:

  • Developing training for the Consumer Protection Framework, Seniors Code, CDIC, AML and other compliance regulations
  • Creating innovative approaches, & reducing repetition across associated training programs and external libraries that balance risk with capacity creation
  • Implementing operational & cost efficiencies - streamline, strengthen, innovate and optimize the building of training.
  • Providing advice and support to existing CB regulatory training and enterprise training programs.

Lead and drive alignment and sustainment of Training best practices by:

  • Working with business lines, delivery channels and support areas to identify and drive initiatives and efficiencies
  • Owning the subject matter expertise to support Regulatory requirements for day-to-day operations and support those initiatives as required.
  • Building effective relationships with various business lines and stakeholders, continually looking for opportunities to improve engagement and ways to further ingrain the changes and innovations
  • Driving a continuous improvement culture throughout the Canadian Bank for regulatory training.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree required / MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive or relevant experience in implementing learning strategies and solutions in a large complex corporate environment
  • Degree, certificate, or designation in adult learning is required.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization. Able to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Actively listens and seeks to understand needs with genuine curiosity.
  • Strong people leadership skills, problem solving, conflict management and negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to effectively perform in a complex, high change environment.
  • Results oriented and able to effectively execute in a fast past environment
