Job Description:

Position Summary:

Lead, develop, and manage a highly specialized team of Capital Risk professionals, ensuring that all significant capital risks are thoroughly understood, analyzed, and measured against the Bank's risk appetite. Provide effective challenge and oversight to deliver meaningful outcomes, all while operating within the Bank's defined risk parameters. As a thought leader, you will collaborate with other business lines and corporate functions to drive risk-related activities forward.

  • Lead and develop a team of subject matter experts and to build relationships with business partners and stakeholders and help support enterprise objectives.
  • Provide in-depth technical leadership and expertise in the oversight and challenge of capital risk across the Enterprise.
  • Plan and execute on strategic activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly.

Customer

  • Lead the development and/or implementation of specific standards, policies and/or processes that identify, report on and mitigate major risk exposures within the business.
  • Establish measurement of capital risk and/or other major risk categories as applicable to the business or functional area, and review findings and action plans with business leaders to mitigate and manage key issues.
  • Direct the development and monitoring of key risk indicators and facilitate communication and resolution of cross-business risk issues among other business segments where applicable.
  • Oversee and lead a large and/or highly complex and diverse reporting function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results.
  • Provide oversight and thought leadership to key assumptions through expertise and highly specialized knowledge of analytical concepts and techniques.
  • Conduct market, industry, and client research in support of the ongoing risk assessment process.

Shareholders

  • Understand and comply with TD policies, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Proactively build awareness of key risk issues by educating business leaders and providing training to the team.
  • Commitment to on-going learning, facilitate key strategic discussions, and provide thought leadership to executive audience.
  • Proactively identify key business opportunities, research and recommend enhancements/modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement.

Team

  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external/internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends, and identify operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management/enterprise areas.
  • Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners/stakeholders to develop productive working relationships.
  • Monitor service, productivity, and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process improvements where opportunities exist.
  • Ensure employees are knowledgeable and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct.

Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • Ability to lead a team of subject matter experts and to build relationships with business partners and stakeholders
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, inclusive of the ability to communicate effectively for senior executive consumption
  • Knowledge of risk management, treasury functions and capital markets
  • The ability to inspire a positive work environment and champion quality, innovation, and teamwork
  • People Management experience
