Overview

StFX is a top ranking Canadian university and we are seeking a Supervisor, Bar Services to be a part of the Conference and Special Events team. Reporting to the Manager, Conferences and Special Events the Supervisor, Bar Services will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to providing liquor services to internal and external clients with the goal of achieving excellent customer satisfaction. This will include hiring and leading casual/student bartenders and liquor clerks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate bar services for internal and external clients throughout the University campus.
  • Monitor performance of department, ensuring delivery of highest possible standards of customer service.
  • To be responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision and development of all staff in the department.
  • To positively approach sales opportunities in order to maximize sales revenue to meet and exceed budgeted sales targets for the department.
  • Provide accurate and detailed client information following event completion.
  • Provide onsite support at events.
  • Weekend and evening work required.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree with experience in Hospitality Industry an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 2 or more years experience in a similar role. Experience in a University environment will be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong work ethics and success at working in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines;
  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up with an eye for detail;
  • MS office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) experience helpful;
  • Experience working with and communicating to customers a must
