As part of the Treasury & Risk Management team, the Financial Risk Analyst role will provide value added financial risk management support and direction across NB Power. The Financial Risk Analyst position contributes to the execution and continuous improvement of financial risk management policies, processes, and procedures.
Key functions include:
• Monitor, track, and calculate the valuation of financial instruments (hedges), including being an expert user in the software used to track and value financial instruments
• Assist with or conduct various analysis and modeling related to financial risk management activities and generating regular financial risk management reports
• Monitor and report on counterparty credit risk exposures against credit limits and analyze and update counterparty credit profiles.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• A bachelor's degree with a major in a quantitative subject area such as finance, accounting, business administration mathematics, statistics or risk management.
• Three years of experience in financial analysis or related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use tools such as MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems with strong attention to detail, with excellent written communication and organizational skills.
If no candidate is identified who meets the specified criteria for the Financial Risk Analyst position above, preference will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications and will be considered for classification as an Analyst I
• A bachelor's degree with a major in a quantitative subject area such as finance, accounting, business administration, mathematics, statistics or risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to use tools such as MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems with strong attention to detail, with excellent written communication and organizational skills.
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
