About Our Opportunity
Under the direction of the Supervisor Client Service, the Property Maintenance is responsible for providing property maintenance housekeeping services, adhering to the standards and practices established by Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency.
- Under routine supervision maintain a high standard of cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in the area(s) to which they are assigned.
- Perform inspections throughout the entire building to determine the cleanliness and security of the building.
- Maintain the cleanliness of common areas such as elevators, laundry rooms, public washrooms, lounges, recreation areas, storage rooms, etc.
- Prepare garbage and refuse for removal from properties and vacate premises, clean garbage rooms/chutes
- Clean appliances in laundry rooms. Sweep and wash down stairwells and stair railings. Clean storm sewers and catch pits etc.
- Advise elevator maintenance service immediately if there is any breakdown of elevator service and advise Maintenance as to the action taken or required.
- Wash, spray buff, or strip and wax all flooring as required or directed, etc.
- Clean vacant units throughout the county as assigned.
- Other assigned duties.
- Grade 12 or high school equivalent plus two years' related experience.
- Ability to understand and operate equipment involved in cleaning and tools related to ground maintenance appropriately and safely. Ability to properly handle cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Report unsafe conditions or practices and take corrective measures if possible.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion, sound judgment, and initiative when investigating, questioning, and dealing with inquiries, requests, and submissions that are sensitive and confidential.
Assets
- Possess current Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.
- Perform tasks in a safe manner according to the Department of Labor and Advanced Education and EMHA safety standards and policies.
- Possess a valid Nova Scotia driver's license and a good driving record.

Salary Range: $20.55 - $23.20 Hourly
