We are pleased to be partnering with MetOcean in the recruitment of a Controller to join their organization in their Dartmouth, NS office.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial management including full cycle corporate accounting, reporting on the financial, and non-financial, performance of MetOcean. The Controller position will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions to ensure all accounting principles, practices and procedures align with legislated requirements and best practices for risk management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team, supporting a collaborative team environment
- Monitor day-to-day accounting activities, including preparation of general ledger account entries and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, reports and working paper files
- Develop supplemental analyses and reports using historical data and trends to project future financial performance
- Summarize and effectively communicate consolidated monthly financial performance to various levels of management
- Lead annual external accounting and reporting requirements
- Oversee daily treasury management activities
- Provide guidance on policies and procedures and offer recommendations for improving operational efficiency and cost controls
- Manage other accounting, finance and special project responsibilities
- Support ERP, billing platform and eCommerce system administration
- Ad-hoc accounting and treasury related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience within a finance department with profit & loss and balance sheet responsibilities.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures (ASPE)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate effective solutions
- Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders (colleagues, leaders, and external stakeholders)
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrate a capacity to adapt to change quickly
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365 suite of applications
