Demands, duties, qualifications
Reporting to the Team Lead of Maintenance located at the Labrador West Health Centre. The primary purpose of this position is to provide sub-professional engineering work on the technical based infrastructure throughout the Labrador West Health Centre and the region as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Three-year diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or 4 th Class Power Engineering Ticket;
  • A CET designation with the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of NL would be an asset;
  • Experience in the operation and development of a Preventative Maintenance system would be an asset.
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

  • Responsible for the continuous maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems within the plant of the Labrador Health Centre, including primary voltage service, Emergency backup power generation systems, telecommunications, process and building control systems, HVAC and life safety systems;
  • Responsible for the coordination and operation of a Computerized Maintenance Management System and be a champion of the system;
  • Repairs, calibrates and maintains sophisticated electronic equipment using schematics and instrumentation, intercom and nurse call systems, boiler controls, ventilation monitoring system;
  • Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts;
  • Aligns, adjusts and calibrates equipment according to specifications;
  • Experience in GCL programming;
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills;
  • Be willing to work overtime as needed;
  • Other related duties as required.
