The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance team in Long Harbour.

This is a permanent on-site position, working a 4x10s schedule at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL.

As a Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will act as a leader in improving overall equipment performance with their area, as well as support project management tasks, maintenance and cost analysis, investigation, and other actions to ensure equipment is correctly maintained and performing at optimum capability.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Perform evaluation for physical condition including conduct failure analysis and lead the implementation of the recommendation to ensure effective and efficient problem solving.
  • Provide urgent technical assistance to Maintenance Supervisors to increase equipment availability and reduce production losses.
  • Evaluate Equipment Design improvements and assist with the co-ordination of project upgrades.
  • Conduct regular implementation of maintenance procedures and identify deviations or deficiencies for improvements.
  • Support stakeholders with Troubleshooting complex problems.
  • Apply value analysis (cost vs. benefit) in making maintenance decisions concerning repair, replacement, or redesign of equipment.
  • Experience in the field or on-the-job training of machinery condition monitoring, machinery lubrication, engineering, mechanical maintenance.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL.
  • Certification in lubrication as analyst or technician preferred.
  • Certification in vibration analyst preferred.
  • CMRP certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a similar role within maintenance, preferably in hydrometallurgical processing, mining heavy equipment, or oil and gas industries.
  • Previous experience in the mechanical & piping disciplines.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the Safe Production model of risk and hazard management.
  • Ability to solve problems and apply creative solutions to keep equipment and property in proper condition.
