The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Principal Engineer- Processing to join our Studies & Engineering team in Sudbury or Toronto.

This is a permanent hybrid position.

As a Principal Engineer (Processing) you will join a team of technical experts and senior engineers to provide strategic guidance, specialized expertise, and ensure consistency in design, operational & maintenance, and construction plans across a diverse portfolio of projects. Your experience and skills will help you manage about 30 projects located across multiple countries (e.g., Canada, Brazil, and Indonesia); total investment exceeding US$ 30 billion; and various technologies, with a focus on underground and open-pit mining, and related infrastructure components including dams, geotechnical structures, roads and ports.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Participate in a team of technical experts and senior engineers to provide strategic guidance and specialized expertise to project teams. Ensure consistency in design, operational & maintenance, and construction plans offering technical insights, analyzing data, and facilitating trade-offs studies and constructuctability reviews for optimal project feasibility.
  • Engage in collaborative work with new partners on select projects. Embrace potential improvements and integrate partner contributions while ensuring alignment with company principles and priorities.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams within the assigned area.
  • Ensure adherence to technical standards, engineering best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve technical documentation and ensure compliance with design criteria.
  • Stay updated with advancements in engineering and construction practices and incorporate them into project designs and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvements and implement them within the assigned area.

About You

Education:

  • An Undergraduate Degree is required in Chemical, Metallurgical or Process Engineering.
  • Certification in a professional association (P. Eng) is required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in similar role.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills to effectively lead and manage a diverse team.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring their successful implementation within budget and schedule.
