What you will be doing:

Tangerine is looking for a motivated and strategically-minded Senior Product Owner, Platform Products to drive the development, platform and integrations strategy, and governance process of our next generation Digital Design System.

Reporting to the Director, Platform and Product Strategy in DPX, you will be responsible for defining, managing and optimizing our global Design System, ensuring standardization of digital experiences both within and across core customer-facing channels, playing a pivotal role in enhancing not only client experience but also Tangerine's Designer and Developer community. You will lead and inspire a team of designers, mobile and web developers, and QE, and work in close collaboration with cross-functional Product and Design stakeholders to deliver high quality components that meet digital experience needs, user centric solutions, and seamless customer interactions. The successful candidate is able to apply systems thinking across all of our customer touchpoints and interactions, ensuring we deliver scalable solutions.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Develop the vision and roadmap for owned areas, and create/maintain a detailed backlog; end-to-end ownership of the Digital Design System including the platform, key integrations and architecture, the pipelines, components, documentation, and adoption
• Build strategy for reusable assets such as components, icons, font systems, layouts, data visualizations, color systems, motion frameworks, etc.
• Strategic and technical leadership of the reusable modular UI component architecture and enterprise UI/UX concepts
• Maintain systems versioning and lifecycle
• Design, build, document and maintain libraries used by teams across web and mobile
• Manages the technology stack hosting the design system
• Partner closely with Product Design team to ensure design foundations and criteria are standardized, centralized within a single source of truth
• Apply incremental delivery principles, drive the delivery of business value, communicate progress, elicit feedback and enable stakeholder reviews for validation in the process
• Play a leadership role in the delivery team you are leading to ensure that high quality and creative solutions are implemented for challenging problems
• Facilitate creative problem solving on a day-to-day basis no matter the circumstances, working closely with development on implementation challenges, turning ambiguity into clarity in a fast-paced environment
• Engage and partner with key stakeholders in Scotiabank and Tangerine to support common understanding and vision across the organization
• Plans the roll out and adoption of the design system to digital products
• Communicate with the business stakeholders and take responsibility for building "the right thing"
• Use OKRs and digital platform product metrics to inform the team's direction and progress
• Managing, mentoring, and coaching designers and developers on system thinking, visual and interaction design principals
• Author, refine and approve backlog items, with clearly articulated "definitions of done"
• Provide leadership, strategic view, and execution unifying system across all code platforms and frameworks
  

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

• University or College degree
• 7+ years related experience in digital product management or technical solution delivery
• Strong working experience delivering Design Systems
• Experience with human-centered design methods.
• 3+ years working in an agile scrum team in a Product Owner capacity
• Front-end developer experience (Angular, iOS, Android) is an asset
• Understanding software development lifecycle is an asset
• An Agile "mindset" and the flexibility to adapt to new and evolving environments
• Excellent delivery skills, with proven accomplishments leading cross-functional projects
• Data-driven approach to problem solving to resolve complex issues and drive actionable outcomes
• Deep passion for first class customer experiences, innovation and delivering software
• A positive attitude, thirst for knowledge, team oriented, pragmatic, willing to fail
• Enthusiastic, thorough, inclusive and results-oriented; ability and desire to help others thrive in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
