PURPOSE

The Senior Manager, Business Initiatives leads and oversees Scotia Wealth Management's real-estate initiatives across Canada ensuring business strategies and plans are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, procedures and executive approval. Reporting to the Managing Director, Scotia Wealth Management you will provide strategic support to the executive team on strategic priorities for the business.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
In this role you will:

  • Lead strategic planning and support management in the development of real estate annual strategic plans, Capital Expenditure Forecasts (CEF) and prioritized initiatives. Prepares various aspects of strategic real estate initiatives for the Executive team through analysis, development, management and recommendations for senior management.
  • Lead initiatives supporting the evolution of Scotia Wealth Management operating model by acting as a team leader, responsible for managing multiple projects on an on-going basis by identifying priorities and tasks, coordinating delivery of outputs with various working partners, monitoring progress against planned objectives and securing consensus and co-operation from senior management and various working partners.
  • Build strong partnership with business lines (Regional Directors, Directors, Branch Management, Team Leads, etc.) and liaises with internal stakeholders and strategic partners (i.e. Real Estate, Legal & Compliance, E.O. Finance, Sales Management & Head Office, Voice & Technology Support Groups, Canadian Business Banking, etc.) on all real estate initiatives.
  • Provide national support to the various Scotia Wealth Management business lines (ScotiaMcLeod, Private Banking, Private Investment Counsel, Scotiatrust, Client Solutions and Partnerships, MD Financial, etc.) as it relates to real estate initiatives. Projects include but are not limited to lease renewals, expansions, renovations, relocations, consolidations, etc. Oversees all stages of the projects from planning to business casing to execution.
  • Work through projects with a cumulative capital budget up to $30 million and manages expenses throughout the fiscal year.
  • Support ongoing strategic initiatives in Scotia Wealth Management by demonstrating strong acumen for problem solving and a strategic mindset.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS?

  • University degree or equivalent college diploma
  • Minimum 5+ year's work experience (preferably in Real Estate and/or Wealth Management)
  • Problem-solving and strong project management/product management skills
  • Stakeholder management, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with conflicting priorities
