SUMMARY:
The Grounds Laborer, reporting to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, will perform maintenance activities for Airport Terminal Building (ATB) grounds, ATB apron areas, street landscaping areas, equipment and facilities. This position also assists with general building maintenance. This person will assist the Building Maintenance Technician with repairs to roof, walls, floors and furnishings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years of experience as a laborer.
- Basic knowledge of use and care of motorized equipment and hand/power tools used in grounds and building maintenance work.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to grounds keeping and maintenance work.
- Considerable knowledge of employee policies and procedures..
- Ability to follow oral instructions and read written instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools, including electronic equipment, and operate motorized equipment and vehicles such as cars, trucks or vans.
- Ability to communicate.
- Knowledge of Canada Labor Code
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety directives
- Valid class 5 motor vehicle license
- Must be able to successfully obtain an AVOP D permit (permit to drive airside)
- Job requires standing for long periods of time.
- Job requires walking for long periods of time on different types of terrain.
- Job may require bending, lifting, and climbing.
Overtime may be available in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
