Demands, duties, qualifications
The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical duties in the Community clinic. Work involves contact with the general public requiring diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, and initiative. Under the direction of the Regional Nurse, the clerk is a responsible member of the health care team. The position is supervised directly by the Regional Nurse II.

Qualifications
:

  • Graduation from high school or any equivalent;
  • Successful completion of a one year Office Administration Program;
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Terminology Course or willingness to obtain in a time frame to be determined by the employer;
  • Current certification of Standard First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain;
  • Class V driver's license would be an asset;
  • Initiative to meet the goals and objectives of the department using methods and products approved by the department under minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment;
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory code of conduct;

Duties (Included but not limited to)
:

  • Complete monthly statistics, prepare cash balances, and complete admission/separation forms;
  • Coordinate external appointments, book clients' transportation, and ensure quality assurance is maintained by using auditing log;
  • Responsible for typing and filing, as well as answering phones and relaying messages;
  • Pulls health records for the following day and returns records to the health room;
  • Maintains health records as per community clinic policy;
  • Familiarization of filing systems necessary to maintain and control prompt retrieval and accessibility of medical records;
  • Daily control of miscellaneous filing of patient reports;
  • Ensures release of information forms are completed prior to release of information;
  • Faxes reports as requested;
  • Complete cash reports;
  • Assists in maintaining accurate statistical data;
  • Enters OPD registry information.
  • Performs other related duties as required;
