Basic Purpose of Position:
The In-Service Engineering (ISE) Specialist utilizes their experience and specific system expertise (in conjunction with applicable aircraft or vendor published documentation) to provide appropriate guidance and direction (24/7) to Maintenance Operations Control (MOC), Tech Ops & Front-Line maintenance staff.
Regularly review fleet reliability, identify opportunities to improve reliability and provide recommendations with supporting business analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out all Daily Operational needs & Aircraft on Ground (AOG) Support
- Review Maintenance Control's current open/active items and carry out appropriate follow-up (including action plans in conjunction with Tech Ops).
- Review/action open alerts using TRAX (Jazz Maintenance Information system).
- Carry out a daily review of Restrictive MEL (Minimum Equipment List) action plan & carry out appropriate follow-up (in conjunction with Tech Ops).
- Provide corrective actions via memo Tech Alerts, TIB's (Technical Information Bulletin), Defects or other means as appropriate.
- Provide support to Flt Ops group regarding technical queries as required.
- Regulatory Review & Configuration Management.
- Communicate and provide technical support to operational groups (Engineering, Quality, Flight Ops, etc.) with regard to aircraft mod status/configuration changes.
- Participate in technical research, investigation, analysis and proposal generation as it relates to damage and repair, modifications, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives.
Fleet Reliability
- ISE Specialist focus on increasing long term fleet reliability for on-time performance, component MTBUR/MTBF (Mean time before unscheduled removal/ Mean Time before Failure), as well as perform periodical aircraft checks.
- Liaise with manufacturers, vendors, other operator fleet counterparts.
- Review and comment on Airworthiness Directives, Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) rule changes via Air Transportation Association of Canada (ATAC). Provide reliability information to support our cases.
- Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) "M" and/or "E" license.
- AME license (ACA Holder) with 5 years experience.
- Specific type training on Dash 8, CRJ series & Embraer series aircraft.
- Six Sigma Green Belt training is considered an asset.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
- Safety Management Systems (SMS) training is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
- Excellent Statistical analysis and reporting skills required.
- Must be available for travel from the home base as needed.
