Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Community Investment, the Community Investment Lead (Programs) is responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating The Home Depot Canada Foundation (THDCF)'s annual $11Million granting programs. This includes supporting the annual giving strategy of THDCF's work aligned with it's 2030 strategic plan and identifying opportunities to strengthen its mission to prevent and end youth homelessness for THDCF's Board of Director consideration and approval. The Lead will convene national conversations to strengthen collaboration in THDCF's network of charity partners, increase partners' capacity to evaluate their programming and lead The Home Depot Canada Foundation's ongoing monitoring and evaluation work with the support of a 3rd party evaluation firm. The Lead will also manage THDCF's Youth Advisory Committee and annual Year in Review report.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes program plans that align with the Foundation's mission, on time and within approved budget
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the complex issues leading to homelessness, experience working in the sector would be an asset
  • Supports the development and execution of communications plans that increase the Foundation's profile, and storytelling to engage The Home Depot Canada's Associates
  • Administers, maximizes and tracks high-level program budgets
  • Works with leader to develop and execute grant giving strategies
  • Reviews and administers all components of The Home Depot Canada Foundation's grant programs including but not limited to: Strategic Partnerships, Youth Opportunity Grants and TradeWorx
  • Prepares quarterly proposals with granting opportunities for the Foundation's Board of Directors consideration.
  • Stewards relationships with The Home Depot Canada Foundation's strategic partners to ensure annual deliverables are fulfilled
  • Engages with thought leaders and researchers to identify new programs and innovative initiatives that contribute to the Foundation's mission
  • Support THDCF's fundraising efforts by creating and maintaining storytelling assets that includes metrics and impact statements
  • Liaises with other charitable partners and associates at local level to inform/assist with funding requests as required
  • Works cross functionally to facilitate Team Depot opportunities on granted projects
  • Drafts and circulates stakeholder update communications through cross functional collaboration
  • Works cross functionally to maintain charitable partner database and granting software (SmartSimple).
  • Develops metrics and systems to effectively evaluate programs and completes program assessments
  • Develops strong relationships with associates (i.e. The Home Depot Canada Foundation Board of Directors, SSC and field associates, public relations, internal communications, marketing, human resources, merchandising, finance, operations, US counterparts and others as required) as well as a variety of external stakeholders as required to deliver on program needs
  • Represents The Home Depot Canada (Foundation) at internal and external events as required

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) or equivalent degree in related field, MSW would be an asset
  • Min. 5 years' experience in non-profit program management or grants administration
  • Proven experience in corporate community relations and/or related non-profit experience
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to manage projects, multi-task and operate under pressure with competing deadlines
  • Ability to design and utilize diverse communications methods and tools to effectively target messages to key stakeholders and clearly convey thoughts, concepts and direction
  • Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility and confidentiality
  • Proven client service experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels
  • CRM experience, Microsoft Office Proficient
  • French language skills a definite asset
  • While this is a remote role, travel to The Home Depot Canada's Store Support Centre on a monthly basis is required.
