Golden Lake Estates Ltd. is a Land Development Company with several subdivisions and subdivision roads in the south-western part of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team (NOC 73400). The ideal candidate is responsible for checking, maintaining, and plowing our subdivision roads as well as maintaining the equipment. The position requires the ability to work independently and in a safe manner.

We are located at 157 Mash Lane, West Bay, Nova Scotia, B0E 3K0. This is a permanent, year-round, position.

Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as heavy-duty trucks and tractors to move, load and grade gravel or other materials during road maintenance and related activities
• Operate excavating equipment to deepen or reopen ditches
• Operate heavy equipment to lay, spread or compact gravel during road maintenance
• Operate heavy equipment to move, load and unload cargo like snow, gravel etc.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment
• Ensure equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner
• Follow project plans and instructions from supervisor
• Secure special attachments to equipment
• Operate snow plow for snow removal and road sanding
• Monitoring of road conditions

Skills/Requirements:

• At least 5 years' experience operating heavy equipment
• High school diploma
• Previous experience operating snow removal equipment
• Ability to work independently and self-responsible to relieve the owners
• Valid driver's licence
• Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and maintenance
• Attention to detail

Hours:
This position is a full-time, permanent, position for 35 hours per week.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, weekends, flexible, on call

Location:
The location of work is 157 Mash Lane, West Bay, B0E 3K0, Nova Scotia as well as out of office work for checking, maintaining and plowing subdivisions.
