Position Details
Context:
The Information Technology (IT) Department ensures that the corporations IT infrastructure, security, software and communications needs are met. The Systems and Operations section manages and maintains all IT infrastructure including security, network, LAN/WAN, communication/collaboration systems, servers, storage, business applications, databases and cloud services. This team also provides hardware and software support, including operation of the NLHC's corporate IT helpdesk. The Systems Development section designs, develops, implements and maintains new and upgraded software solutions, manages the acquisition/installation and upgrade of software from external vendors, provides software training in corporate systems, performs application support to end users, develops and maintains the corporation's data and reporting.
Duties:
The Manager, IT Infrastructure and Operations oversees the reliability, performance, and security of on‐premise and cloud services for the corporation. Reporting to the Director of IT, this role manages teams responsible for IT infrastructure, operations, security, and support across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- IT Infrastructure Management: Oversees design, implementation, and maintenance of servers, networks, and storage; supports technical infrastructure for business applications.
- Datacenter Operations: Ensure high availability and performance of IT services including disaster recovery planning.
- Desktop Operations: Manages corporate computer systems, mobile devices, and software.
- Incident Management: Oversees IT Service Desk, ensures service delivery objectives are met.
- Security: Implements robust security measures including cyber security and IT audit.
- Team Leadership: Leads and mentors IT team, promoting client service and professional development.
- Vendor Management: Manages vendors, develops RFQs/Tenders, and negotiates contracts and SLAs.
- Budget Management: Assists with IT project budgets; evaluates emerging technologies.
- Project Management: Ensures projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Change Management: Ensures adherence to change management procedures.
- Controls and Compliance: Maintains data integrity and confidentiality; ensures regulatory compliance and implements IT policies.
- Strategy: Aligns IT solutions with organizational goals and IT strategy.
Criteria
Screening Criteria:
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (Equivalencies may be considered)
- Experience with IT infrastructure and operations management
- Experience in IT leadership, mentoring a team
- Experience in project/program management
Assessment Criteria:
- Knowledge of network and server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud technologies
- Knowledge of IT technical architectures and databases
- Knowledge of IT processes
- Knowledge of IT Security technologies and security best practices
- Knowledge of IT Service Desk Software (Asset)
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Support Processes (Asset)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office365 (Asset)
