WorkSafeNB is seeking Investigations Officers. Reporting to the Manager, Investigations, you will lead workplace incident investigations with a goal of identifying causes of the incident, finding measures to keep workers safe by identifying training/process opportunities that will promote safety and prevent reoccurrence. In addition, identify violations of legislation and where appropriate recommend prosecutions before the court or issue administrative penalties. Manage all aspects of the file with guidance from our regulatory framework and the OHS Act as a representative of WorkSafeNB. You will communicate findings to stakeholders including injured party's family, affected workplace parties and other agencies.

Your key areas of responsibility:

• Conducting workplace incident investigations.
• Participating in legal and administrative proceedings
• Meeting with injured workers, families, employees, employers, and external stakeholders to provide resources and present information on investigations
• Reviewing and analyzing plans, standards, manuals, policies, procedures, and directives.

You, as a successful candidate, possess:

• Post-secondary education in Law Enforcement or relevant field or a university degree in Criminology, Science, or Engineering.
• Must have five years of relevant work experience including experience in investigative processes.
• Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
• Must have ability and willingness to obtain a designation such as CTAJ , CRST , CRSP , ROH or CIH.
• Knowledge of the various Engineering disciplines is an asset as the IO may be required to retain engineers and/or other technical experts.
• Require excellent verbal and written communication skills to complete investigation reports, official legal documents, send electronic correspondence.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

A valid driver's license, and the ability to travel within the province, will be required.

Written and spoken competency in English and French is required.

Pay Scale $84,269.81 to $99,140.95

Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.

Your primary workspace will be from your in-home office, with the expectation of in person meetings, for that reason, working from outside the province, or country, is not permissible.
