PSA Halifax Limited Partnership (PSA Halifax) is a container terminal operator owned and operated by PSA International. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly successful and leading container terminal operation in the East Coast of Canada.

Purpose:

The Timekeeper liaises with the Shift Manager to ensure all ILA labor orders are issued in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement to meet operational requirements. Using the "Earnings Skills List", labor is ordered on a timely basis as per the collective agreement using an electronic ordering system to ensure each order and confirmation is maintained within the telephone ordering system. In consultation with the ILA Foreman ensures all the names and times worked are recorded in the time book. Ensures the time book data is updated into the MDC payroll software and cross balanced daily to ensure accuracy. Responsible to ensure the seven (7) daily time-sets are available to Maritime Data Center (MDC) each Monday for processing of the payroll. Using the time book information and the Foremen's reports ensures the daily General Ledger distribution is completed and balanced for the Finance department. Coordinates the distribution of the payroll cheques/stubs to the workforces in consultation with the local MDC representative. Responsible to investigate any discrepancies on the "Earnings List" or the pay cheques and ensures all corrections are made accurately.

Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • Two years post-secondary education in administration, operations and/or safety.
  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements. At least 2 years' experience working in a marine terminal/industrial environment in the areas of administration, operations/and or safety is an asset. Experience working in deadline sensitive working environments is an asset.
  • MS Office including: (Word, Access, Excel), Outlook Email, Adobe Pro, Internet, scheduling software such as ERP/Terminal operating systems.
  • Time management skills and the ability to meet exact time deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, and accurate record keeping.
  • First Aid and WHMIS training will be required and will be provided.
