EDUCATION SPECIALIST - PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION (BAND LEVEL 9)

DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager of Operations and supporting the Academic Director (Physician Assessment Training and Oversight) of the Office of Professional and Educational Development (OPED), the successful applicant will lead the ongoing implementation and evaluation of the Physician Assessment Training and Oversight Program (PATO). This program supports physician service delivery in the province via Practice Ready Assessment - Newfoundland and Labrador (PRA-NL) and other workplace- based assessment initiatives. Duties include: providing leadership in development and implementation of the program; providing leadership in policy development and oversight of academic planning; liaising with educational support units, academic disciplines as well as national academic medicine organizations in the adoption and use of standardized assessment methods, processes and tools; developing and implementing a framework for ongoing evaluation; monitoring program outcomes; interpreting and reporting evaluation data for improvement; identifying trends and best practices in physician assessment, workplace-based assessment, and re-entry at national and international levels, supporting OPED within the ongoing accreditation system of the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) and other duties as required. Key stakeholder relationships include the medical regulator, provincial government, the provincial health authority, and provincial health zones.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (5-7 years) in developing and evaluating assessment and/or educational programming for health professionals; a Master's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Health Administration, Business) or an equivalent combination of education and training. The successful candidate will be a leader who embraces challenges, solves problems and thinks progressively; will have expertise in program development, program evaluation, report writing, accreditation of educational programming, certification of health professionals, and project management; and have superior organizational, presentation skills, interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working and/or familiarity with accredited health professional continuing education programming, workplace-based assessment programming, and/or the provincial health professional regulatory environment are assets.

SALARY $66,092 - $90,126 per annum (Management & Professional)
