Who you are

You have:

  • Active registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick
  • Baccalaureate degree in in Nursing
  • Graduate degree in Nursing, Education or Healthcare Leadership/Administration
  • Recent experience with teaching, mentoring, and coaching nursing staff or nursing students
  • Previous experience as a preceptor is considered an asset
  • Recent experience in working with the clinical integration of IENs into Canadian Healthcare
  • Previous experience with settlement services, immigration, or educational credential assessment (ECA) is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed presentation skills and demonstrated experience in providing education sessions to adult learners
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate data using outcome measurement and develop action plans.

Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level.

What you will do

In collaboration with the Nurse Mentor Coordinators, the Internationally Educated Nurse (IEN) Coordinator assumes responsibility for supporting and facilitating the successful integration and retention of IENs into Horizon Health Network. The IEN Coordinator fosters a professional relationship with new IENs to facilitate their integration into the workplace and acts a nursing clinical subject matter expert to guide IENs in transitioning successfully as Registered Nurses in Horizon.

  • Conducts needs analysis to determine orientation and mentorship needs and processes for IENs.
  • Identifies areas for improvement by monitoring and evaluating trends and develops and / or facilitates development of processes, policy and / or standards.
  • Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Acts as a liaison between IENs and key internal and external stakeholders during the integration process.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertakes collaborative development, implementation, and evaluation of interventions for successful IEN integration into Horizon Nursing teams.
  • Orientates new IENs to the Canadian healthcare system and Horizon Health, including the provision of Nursing care.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in clinical services, Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour's (PETL) IEN Navigator, and the Nurses Association of New Brunswick to support individual IEN needs.
  • Support the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and judgement to perform activities competently and proficiently.
  • Provide guidance, training, support, and/or assistance to develop a strong career plan in Nursing.
  • Collaborates with and supports managers during the learning, orientation and integration process.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to increase commitment to a corporate strategy of diversity and inclusion.
  • Participates in relevant committees.
  • Assist novice and experienced individuals in professional development while facilitating integration within the workplace, employee engagement, job satisfaction, networking, and succession planning.
  • Foster collegial relationships and integration within the organization and larger professional community
