The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Manager, IT Business Partner Mining & Processing - North Atlantic to join our Information & Operational Technology team in Sudbury.

This is a permanent hybrid position.

As a Manager, IT Business Partner Mining & Processing, you will will serve as the crucial link between the information technology function and the North Atlantic operations. The regional operations include assets in Sudbury, Manitoba, Voisey's Bay, Japan, and the UK. This role will be immersed in the business, building deep relationships to understand business processes related to production and logistics in our mines and processing plants. Your experience and skills will allow you to manage the demand intake, identify, and prioritize IT/OT solutions, work with our mining and processing operations to develop business cases, and, once approved and funded, hand over demand to the Project Management Office (PMO) for delivery as a project, then follow up on execution and value realization.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Build and maintain deep relationships and knowledge of the business, being embedded in the business to have a profound understanding of the business's strategy, roadmap, and pressing challenges
  • Travel across North Atlantic Operations sites to get to know each operations site deeply, work closely with each site leaders and experts, develop an understanding of the operation needs, and provide advice on IT/OT systems and investments needed for North Atlantic Operations
  • Develop an IT/OT Roadmap for VBM North Atlantic Operations covering the business needs in MES, Controls and Automation areas. Collaborate with other IT BPs to ensure that support functions roadmaps integrate well into the North Atlantic Operations roadmap
  • Oversee and manage IT/OT local budget, financial management and processes on behalf of the business unit to ensure IT/OT has full view and transparency on IT/OT systems costs and value.
  • Shape and manage demand intake by working with the business to develop roadmaps, business cases and identifying the products and services that can assist the business areas with their needs.
  • Oversee the delivery of IT in North Atlantic (including projects and support services), acting as the key interface point to ensure alignment and integration with the VBM IT/OT strategic plan, architectural direction, and governance processes.

About You

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering or Information Technology (IT) is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of IT experience with 5+ years of mining or similar heavy industry experience.

Skills:

  • Experience managing ITOT relationship with the business with strong ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Deep understanding of business processes, and operations in Mining & Metals industry or similar heavy industries
  • Ability to build a multi-year technology roadmap, and secure sponsorship and support from all required stakeholders to approve funding and execution
  • Ability to align IT initiatives with business strategies and goals, ensuring IT delivers maximum value
  • Experience controlling all budget in the region from planning, forecast, and execution
  • Ability to ensure day-to-day ITOT support requirements are consistently met and any issues that arise are resolved in a timely, effective manner
  • Ability to ensure ITOT SLAs within the region meet the business' requirements
  • Creative problem solver, able to understand business strategy and needs and proactively identify solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively convey complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
