Job Title: Full Time Recreation Programmer

Job Description: Responsible for assisting the development, organization and delivery of recreation programs that enhance the health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life for the residents.
Education Required:
- Successful completion of a recognized Recreation Programmer's course
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia Therapeutic Recreation Association preferred
- Knowledge and/or skills in music, creative expression and crafts an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the internet
- Food Handlers course an asset
- Current First Aid an asset
- Education in responsive behaviors/Alzheimer's and related dementias preferred
Competencies:
- Assist in development, organization, delivery and evaluation of recreation programs
- Assist with assessment of residents and developing plans to meet their needs
- Help the Chaplain and local area ministers to ensure spiritual needs of the residents are being met
- Documenting care provided
- Provide direction and assist in supervision of volunteers when needed
- Effective communication both written and verbal in English with residents, families and co-workers
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of the organization
- Possesses exemplary Customer Service skills
- Reliable with good attendance and cheerful disposition
- Must take initiative and able to work with minimum supervision
- Respectful and hardworking team player
- Demonstrate the use of proper body mechanics
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment
- Experience in a long-term care or similar environment is considered an asset
- Act as an ambassador for Dykeland Lodge
- Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector Screening in the last 3 months is required

Salary Range:
- Starting at $19.32 per hour
