Over the past 22 years, Canadian Solar has successfully delivered over 102 GW of premium-quality, solar photovoltaic modules to customers across the world. Now, with e-STORAGE specializing in the design, manufacturing, and integration of battery energy storage systems for utility-scale applications, our client offers its own proprietary LFP battery solution, comprehensive EPC services, and innovative solutions aimed at improving grid operations, integrating clean energy, and contributing to a sustainable future. e-STORAGE has successfully implemented over 3.3 GWh DC of battery energy storage solutions in various locations worldwide, demonstrating that they are fully equipped to continue providing high-quality, scalable energy storage solutions and contribute to the widespread adoption of clean energy.
Role Description:
Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the execution of BESS projects from limited notice to proceed activities through to final completion. This will include managing and coordinating all related activities with various stakeholders including internal departments, the client/owner, equipment vendors, general contractors, and various subcontractors to provide a 'turn-key' BESS project.
By joining e-STORAGE, you will be part of a world-class energy storage solution provider. With access to industry experts and a leading manufacturing capacity, you will be well-equipped to build on our client's excellent track record and play a critical role in making clean energy a way of life, versus just a solution. In return for your skills and expertise, you will be rewarded with a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including opportunities for professional growth and development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the primary contact and manage the execution of cross-functional projects of high complexity (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks, and customer satisfaction);
- Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality reviews, and escalating functionality, quality, and timeline issues appropriately;
- Work in conjunction with in-house system designers as well as subcontractors to prepare project-specific system design plans that take into account customer site and project considerations as well as pertinent local codes and regulations;
- Assist in the estimation of project costs and the development of project schedules;
- Prepare, negotiate, and manage surveying, geotechnical, or other such work scopes to support project execution activities;
- Manage construction permitting activities and ensure that all required construction permits have been obtained;
- Ensure that all systems are installed exactly according to plan and that there are no technical installation errors committed that would decrease system performance or lifespan or cause potential system failure;
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans;
- Direct and support the Project Manager and / or Project Coordinator in coordinating day-to-day project management activities;
- Report project status and performance data as required to management, project sponsors, and other stakeholders;
- Ensure all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures are followed.
Your Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you have a demonstrated ability to deliver on highly complex projects, from start to finish. You are effectively able to manage all stakeholder relationships and resolve project issues or conflicts swiftly, without compromising on quality and cost. Most importantly, you are a confident project leader with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, who can maintain customer satisfaction as a top priority at all times.
Qualifications include:
- 5 years' experience in managing construction projects, with preference given to those with experience in utility-scale renewable projects;
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering) would be considered a strong asset;
- Strong negotiation, facilitation, risk management, and consensus-building skills;
- Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and photovoltaic or energy storage system applications;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and influence positively a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts;
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality;
- Expert knowledge of creating business requirements, work plans, project schedules, and associated project artifacts;
- Ability to function successfully both independently and within a team;
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, P6);
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
