Salary: $64,974.00 to $90,740.00 annually.

Responsibilities

As part of the Teaching and Learning Excellence team, reporting to the Head of Teaching and Learning Innovation, the Teaching and Learning Specialist provides ongoing teaching and learning support in adult education and proven pedagogical practices to Instructors, Chairs, and Deans.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct needs analyses and develop and deliver effective training plans that align with NBCC standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support the identification, roll-out, and implementation of training solutions.
  • Keep current on trends, best practices, and technology related to teaching and learning.
  • Prepare and support instructors in their continued growth and development as educators.
  • Provide training and resources to instructors on best practices in adult education and use of technology for classroom and virtual deliveries.
  • Support new instructors during onboarding.
  • Maintain and update resources, documentation and internal Sharepoint pages.
  • Track and report on training attendance, results, and training satisfaction scores.
  • Recommend technical solutions to support teaching deliveries and develop training to support implementation.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in adult education or a related field.

  • Demonstrated work experience in adult education and teaching, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven ability to assess and evaluate learning products, offering recommendations to improve academic quality and effectiveness.
  • Proficient in using classroom technologies and Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as D2L Brightspace.
  • Skilled in using web-based conferencing tools like Microsoft Teams for virtual collaboration and communication.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Exemplary teaching and professional skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management, reporting and research experience.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-directed, with a service and results-oriented mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Assets:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License as travel between campuses will be required.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
