The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Geological/Mining Engineering Technology Co-op Student to join our Exploration team in Copper Cliff, Sudbury, ON.

This is an onsite 4 month-fixed term co-op position starting in January 2025.

The successful Geological/Minging Engineering Technology Co-op Student candidate will assist with borehole geophysical surveys, locating, sorting, cleaning, repackaging and labeling samples along with core cutting, sampling and handling. They will also be responsible for surface drill servicing (line up, wedging) and inspections, trail flagging and cutting, GPS surveying and operating field equipment and maintenance

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Providing assistance to workers performing the above-mentioned duties
  • Data entry, organization and preparation of databases
  • Scanning, labeling and cataloguing of documents and data
  • Assisting with health and safety audit, risk assessment and field inspections
  • Monitor and maintain supplies inventory

About You

Education:

  • Enrolled in a Mining Engineering Technology College program.

Experience:

  • Previous work experience in an industrial setting would be an asset.

Skills:

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment where exposure to temperature extremes and noise is frequent.
  • Good understanding of modern mineral exploration and mining techniques.
  • Excellent verbal communication (English) and strong social skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, effective problem solving, and time management and prioritization skills. Flexible, meticulous and attention to detail.
  • Valid G driver's license.
  • Good digital literacy (experience with MS office products, GIS and 3D software an asset).
  • Completion of the following preferred: First Aid/CPR/AED, WHMIS
