Details:

The Water/Wastewater Treatment Technician contributes to the effective operation of the Physical Plants within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and implements the principles of good energy management stewardship. Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of supply water and wastewater treatment systems and ancillary treatment equipment at all buildings owned and operated by the HRCE. These duties include work of plumber or similar tradesperson's competence, physical capability, and mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude. The position reports to the Regional Manager and takes direction during shifts from on duty maintenance supervisors.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 High School Diploma or academic equivalent through educational programs such as a Graduated Equivalent Diploma;

Five (5) years experience working in a school building maintenance environment;

Wastewater Operator Class 1 Certification;

Water Treatment Class 1 Certification;

Water Distribution Class 1 Certification;

Water/Wastewater Quality courses or equivalent training;

Knowledge of Plumbing systems is considered an asset;

Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and satisfactory driving record;

Physical and mechanical aptitude to perform a full range of maintenance and manual tasks.

Compensation:

Classification: Trades 2 - NSUPE $29.68 per hour.
