Job Opportunity: Analyst, Fund Administration (Permanent)

The Analyst, Fund Administration supports the Business Investment Team with the collection, maintenance, compilation and reporting of portfolio account data related to the Funds managed by the Business Investment Team. The Business Investment Team is primarily engaged in managing a venture capital fund which invests in early-stage technology-based companies. The Analyst, Fund Administration plays a key role in ensuring that the business unit maintains accurate portfolio data and prepares detailed and accurate reporting on the Funds for internal and external stakeholders.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Collect, process, and ensure the quality control of business unit portfolio account data from various systems, including SAP and Salesforce
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc portfolio reporting and financial projections for internal and external users, seeking and developing enhancements to meet the needs of the business unit
  • Support fiscal year-end data collection, portfolio valuation processes, and audit activities
  • Calculate the Nova Scotia First Fund performance
  • Liaise with Accounting, Program Support, and Business Process Solutions teams to ensure portfolio account data is accurately reflected in SAP, Salesforce and other enterprise systems
  • Utilize project management methodologies to guide system and process upgrades and enhancements
  • Compile data for, and prepare the Jobs Fund Annual Report
  • Support the Business Investment Team with new software implementation as required, migration of portfolio data to new systems as required, and documentation management

Education/ Professional Experience:

As a successful candidate, you possess a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Science or a related field, combined with a minimum 5 (five) years of experience as a data analyst. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Professional certification in Data Analysis (e.g., CAP) is highly desirable. Specialized knowledge in Venture Capital would be considered an asset.

Key Competencies:

  • Advanced skills in data analysis, and data management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including a high degree of expertise using Excel
  • Experience using SAP and Salesforce (or other CRM software), including data extraction, processing, and reporting
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proactive, able to find solutions and work independently when necessary
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial statements, equity investments and commercial lending is an asset

Classification: This is a bargaining unit position with an Invest Nova Scotia 5 rate of pay: $65,155- $79,203 based on the March 31, 2024, collective agreement rates. Preference will be given to qualified Invest Nova Scotia NSGEU bargaining unit candidates.
