Occupational Therapist

Nakile Home for Special Care has taken pride in offering a friendly, bright, home-like atmosphere to seniors in Argyle and the surrounding areas since 1989. We are a 48-bed facility, and we are fully licensed by the province of Nova Scotia. Nakile maintains a reputation as one of the finest long-term care facilities in Western Nova Scotia. At Nakile we promote a home-like atmosphere, and we strive to meet the individual needs of the people who live here. We are currently seeking one Temporary, Part Time, Occupational Therapist to join the Nakile family.

Hours of Work

Temporary (approximately 3 months) Part-Time, 16 hours/bi-weekly

Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing residents with Occupational Therapy programs and services that include assessing their current needs to plan, implement, document, and evaluate therapeutic interventions. The Occupational Therapist will work under the direction of the Administrator and in collaboration with the Director of Care, Resident Care Coordinator, Physiotherapist, and Therapeutic Recreation staff.

Duties will be performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures of Nakile Home for Special Care. NHSC is committed to person centered care, resident safety, continued quality improvement, and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.

Qualifications:

· Current license with the regulatory bodies

The College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS)
Nova Scotia Society of Occupational Therapists (NSSOT)

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Excellent time management and multitasking skills and must possess ability to prioritize work

· Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to resident privacy

The following will be considered assets:

· Previous experience working in Long Term Care.

· High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
