Position: Security Supervisor

Status: Full Time
Hours: Monday - Friday 0700-1500hr
Overtime Method: Employment Standards Act - calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly
Position Overview:
  • Implement security measures to protect property, control access to sites, patrol assigned areas to monitor activities and ensure client rules and regulations are followed.
  • Ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed and maintain written reports.
  • Must have working knowledge of all legislation and regulation related to the security industry, including but not limited to fire, building and criminal codes and any other applicable federal and provincial acts and regulations.
  • Identify problems, develop, evaluate and propose alternatives and identify the most suitable options and implement decisions of the Facility Manager.
  • Support and the implementation of security protocols and objectives
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of Guards and determine where further support and training be required.
  • Direct visitors to appropriate areas, perform security checks and liaise with visitors, customers and the public.
  • Maintaining a positive, productive work environment through collaboration.
  • Support security measures relative to courthouse access policies in accordance with COVID19 protocols
  • Ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed

  • Monitor CCTV and Access Control systems
  • Foot Patrols

Requirements:
  • Leadership and professional skills and attitudes appropriate to the Supervisor position.
  • Must have well developed and proven leadership skills, must motivate subordinates and must effectively handle personnel problems, contracts and collective agreement processes.
  • Must have at least 2 years experience as a Security Guard.
  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act.
  • Able to maintain a professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances and people under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear, concise and legible reports.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy.
  • Patrol assigned area on foot, as assigned, to ensure personal, building and equipment security.
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required.
  • Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when providing a security presence, such as providing direction, responding to emergency situation involving violent individuals and injuries.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  1. Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence (required)
  2. Valid St Thomas Police Security Clearance (required – completed internally)
  3. Valid First Aid & CPR certificate level C
  4. In this role, it is essential that you maintain integrity, clear written and oral communication skills, and maintain a high standard of customer service
