Position: Community School Coordinator

Employment Type: Temporary until June 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension

Salary: SBO 2 ($1885-2590) Bi-weekly

Serving - Fredericton Education Centre

The successful applicant will be responsible for creating and managing all community-based facilities rentals on behalf of Anglophone West School District. Working with School Administrations and District Staff, knowledge of school communities will assist in identifying local resources and opportunities.

The position reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator-Operations and the Director of Finance and Administration on best practices and new partnerships developed so that the maintenance and growth of the community-based activities can be monitored ta the District level.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with School Principals and the Community Engagement Coordinator to develop long-term strategic plans for local community, municipal, and business involvement with the schools
  • Working with District Facilities staff in determining approvals for community use and custodial services
  • Ensuring that the physical premises and equipment used by all community groups are left in proper condition after use
  • Scheduling community activities through an internal electronic scheduling system
  • Maintaining records and schedules of community-based activities
  • Providing invoicing information on rentals and custodial fees to District Staff
  • Preparing a basic yearly statistical analysis on community use of schools within the District
  • In cooperation with the District and Principals; acting as the prime liaison between the school and the community
  • Ensuring that barriers and challenges that restrict community use of schools are mitigated

Qualifications:

  • Work at this level requires competency normally gained through the equivalent of a University Degree in a non-technical area, or a two (2) year Community College program supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience.
  • Typical work at this level is done within well-defined, somewhat diversified procedures, with many precedents covering most situations and/or readily available assistance.

Essential attributes include:

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills-spoken (personable), written, and digitally literate.
  • Ability to identify and catalogue the needs of the school and available community resources in relation to community use of schools.
  • Experience in implementing new software and supporting process improvement
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment with the key state holders and District staff.
  • Hours of work must be flexible, responding to the needs of the District, schools, and community, and may involve some evening and weekend work.

Salary: In accordance with the Public Service Alliance of Canada Union (PSAC), School Business Office 2 based on a minimum of 36.25 hrs/wk.
