Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada's largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

The TD Asset Management Fundamental Equities team is a performance-oriented group managing long-only Canadian, US, International and global equity portfolios for institutional, high net worth and retail clients. The team follows a disciplined investment process combining fundamental due diligence and detailed empirical/quantitative research and risk management to produce superior investment results. An opportunity exists for an Analyst to join the team, reporting to the Vice President & Director, Lead of Empirical Research & PM Support.

Job Description:

The Analyst will work directly with the investment team, collaborating with fundamental analysts, quantitative analysts to support decision making by portfolio managers. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting in-depth financial analysis on companies and industries to identify investment opportunities suitable for TDAM portfolio.
  • Developing investment ideas and educating investment and client-facing teams on research finding and recommendations via written research reports and presentations.
  • Owning and supporting a sector-specific research coverage by maintain thorough and consistent coverage of relevant stock universe, including proposing new investment ideas and recommending which securities should exit the portfolio.
  • Building relationships with company management, industry contacts, research vendors to enhance company's brand and research capabilities.
  • Attending industry conferences and seminars to gain relevant insights.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of capital markets, including financial statement and fundamental analysis, major valuation techniques, macroeconomics, factor-based and quantitative investing strategies, asset allocation, macroeconomics, and portfolio construction.
  • Solid analytical and modelling capabilities, an exceptional passion towards public equity markets, and a desire to actively and collaboratively problem-solve within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent track record of analyzing complex multi-faceted problems and arriving at well-thought-out conclusion through applying logical, expert frameworks
  • Personal and/or professional track record of intellectual curiosity, market participation, and equity research
  • Ability to work under pressure on time-sensitive and sometimes unpredictable developments
  • Ability to work independently with no supervision towards clear objectives with ambiguous waypoints
  • Comfortable managing relationships and prioritize demanding workloads with numerous portfolio manager stakeholders
  • Ability to distill and convey complex financial and fundamental information to a generalist audience
  • Industry experience in capital markets within research, investment banking or related fields is an asset

Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree in Engineering/Finance/Mathematics/Economics/Accounting/MBA or related fields is preferred
  • CFA designation or working towards a CFA designation

Please note this is listed as a hybrid 3 day a week role, however most team members attend the office everyday.
