Position Details

Context: The Information Technology department consists of two sections: Operations and Development. The Operations section maintains all data processing facilities including the centralized computer systems and data centre, servers, personal computers and the organization's communications network; and provides all related systems security services and help desk functions. The Development section undertakes projects to develop and implement new systems, upgrades existing software applications and manages the acquisition of software from external vendors; provides data reporting services; and systems/software training for all Housing employees and assists the Operations and Support sections with complex software support and reporting activities.

Duties:

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology the Senior Security Analyst will work as a critical team member in our Information Technology Department and will play an essential role in proactively managing and maintaining security within NLHC's IT environment. The Senior Security Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the corporation's IT Security strategies and needs are translated into effective technical solutions through the implementation and maintenance of security tools, policies and procedures. The incumbent is accountable for performing, and coordinating, advanced security work, and monitoring of security incidents in the NLHC environment. This includes implementation, support and maintenance of NLHC's IT security infrastructure support systems. This person will also lead the Security Awareness & Education program for employees and plays an important role in NLHC's overall Security program including Cyber Security and IT Audit. The position responds to a broad range of technical, business and security-related issues which have a direct impact on overall technological infrastructure and business operations while acting as the subject matter expert to the IT personnel from a security and advisory capacity, as well as other duties as required.

Criteria

Screening Criteria:

  1. Completion of a degree or diploma in Computer Studies (equivalences may be considered)
  2. Extensive varied experience in an IT Security environment
  3. Experience working in infrastructure related technologies
  4. Experience working in Network and Security related technologies
  5. Experience working in Server and Database technologies
  6. Experience developing IT Policies and Procedures
  7. Experience/training in Cyber Security and/or IT Audit (Asset)
  8. Project Management skills (Asset)

Assessment Criteria:

  1. Knowledge of infrastructure related technologies, including Physical and Virtual Servers, VMWARE, SAN Storage, backup and restore technologies, Telephony and Collaboration systems and Cloud Services.
  2. Knowledge of Network and Security related technologies, (i.e. Routers, Switching, Firewalls, Mobile Device Management (MDM), Wireless, Multi-factor Authentication, Endpoint Protection, Email Security, Certificates, Patch Management, SFTP, VPN, DMZ, TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS.)
  3. Knowledge of Server and Database technologies, including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle, Citrix and Active Directory/Global Catalogue.
  4. Knowledge of IT security best practices, policies, procedures and standards.
  5. Strong documentation and writing skills
  6. Leadership and advisory skills
  7. Software and/or database design/analysis skills
  8. System integration, system planning, security and software management skills
  9. Analytical skills
  10. Ability to effectively exchange information
  11. Attention to detail
