- Graduation from a postsecondary Engineering Technology Diploma Program.
- Education and / or considerable applicable experience in a field related to the water works industry may be considered.
- Candidates should be willing / able to attain certification through provincially administered program.
- Valid NB Class V driver's license.
- Oral competency with French language skills considered an asset.

Are you passionate about ensuring clean and safe drinking water for our community? We're looking for a dedicated Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our Engineering and Operations Department. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of our city's water supply and treatment facilities. The role encompasses everything from the City's water supply to it's treatment facilities and the distribution system.
What You'll Do:
- Water treatment and monitoring of the water quality as per the Canadian drinking guidelines.
- Operation and maintenance of pumps, reservoirs and the installation and programming of programmable logic controllers and electrical components.
- Operate and maintain the water treatment plants and related equipment (ph meters, turbidity meters, spectrophotometers)
- Inspect and maintain wells, booster stations, valve vaults, and reservoirs and related equipment. This may include climbing to significant heights and entering confined spaces.
- Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives, smart motor controllers, and various process monitoring/control equipment.
- Maintain records, computer data entry, and programming ladder logic software.
- Deal with customer inquiries.
- Perform manual work with dexterity and competency is required.

- Ability to present reports in an efficient, and neat manner using both hand written and computerized formats.
- Well developed interpersonal and communications skills to be able to help the public and support the team.
- Ability to work after hours and shifts is required. This includes a regular night shift if required.
