Overview:
The Rental Logistics Specialist serves as the subject matter experts in large equipment (LE) operations. Responsible for driving efficiencies in rental LE operations and deliveries. The rental specialist must communicate effectively cross functionally and within their area of the business with all levels of the organization. They must plan and align, balance priorities, drive a culture of customer service, safety, and operational excellence. The Rental Specialist must plan and coordinate their day by balancing rental business objectives, LE delivery scheduling, deployment, auctions, and customer service demands with guidance from their Regional Rental Manager (RRM).
The Rental Logistics Specialist must uphold The Home Depot's core values and project a positive image. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working environment by following all safety policies & standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch and support for drivers:

  • Develop delivery technicians by providing weekly feedback and game plans aligned to the Home Depot development resources. Provide ongoing technical guidance.
  • Use dispatch software to ensure timely pickup and delivery of rental assets. Ensure all equipment are picked up and delivered on time.
  • Critical that this role understands the markets they support including but not limited to geography and traffic patterns.
  • Partner with call center as needed on deliveries.
  • Ensure all deliveries are tendered as scheduled for next day delivery and communicate any concerns to leadership.
  • Coordinate deployment and auction processes of rental equipment and trailers

Daily responsibilities and expectations:

  • This role is responsible for fostering a culture of customer service & support and should GET Involved with MSTs, LRTs, etc. to provide the solutions our rental customers need to successfully complete their projects.
  • Coordinate equipment tracking devices (GPS program) including activation and troubleshooting issues.
  • Lost and/or Stolen Equipment Timely Resolution support: dealing with Police, towing companies, customers and stores
  • Support field technicians in conjunction with RRM
  • Track and provide updates on annual trailer certification process to ensure compliance.
  • Track and support new hire onboarding process, including but not limited to, ensuring technology and vehicles are ready, being a first point of contact on any IT issues, and ensuring compliance is met.
  • Analyze and coordinate the transfer of equipment from store to store.
  • Ensure accuracy of status in Rental Toolbox and Single source asset by working reports weekly
  • Support field technicians with technical issues

Documentation:

  • Utilize customer delivery reports to formulate efficient service strategies with Rental Delivery Drivers (RDDs) to ensure timely completion of all deliveries and/ or pick-ups.
  • Coordinate vehicle compliance including but not limited to: Electronic Logging Device (ELD) set-up, CVOR renewals, annual inspection tracking, vehicle Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and documentation.
  • Coordinating Samsara: follow up on new hire set up, ensure hours of service and unassigned miles are corrected, communicate results.
  • Track PPE recertification and inspections of shops
  • Check in with RRM at beginning and end of day.

Safety compliance:

  • Regularly communicate with the team for alignment on operational compliances, new programs, policy/ Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) changes, and the direction of the business. Foster a culture focused on One Home Depot through collaboration and connection with internal customers, brand, relationship building, and celebration.
  • Ensure the compliance of our shops and vehicles through tracking and follow-ups. Escalating any concerns to RRM.

Physical Requirements:

  • May include physical demands such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.) from the waist, lifting from the shoulder, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling underneath equipment, climbing on top of equipment, reaching, and stretching.
  • Environment will require repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, including skilled work with fingers. Occasionally, employee will be required to work at heights and climb onto equipment.
  • Working outdoors in extreme hot and cold temperatures; working around dirt, grease, fumes, oils, and chemicals; prolonged exposure to loud noises from engines, compressors, power tools, and equipment.
