Meridia has partnered with ABLE to recruit a Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) to join their Metro Office located in Tantallon or New Minas, Nova Scotia
Role Description
In this important role, the Civil Engineering Technologist will be responsible for creating detailed engineering design drawings, providing consulting services to clients, and ensuring projects meet regulatory and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure projects are completed within scope, budget, and timeline.
Duties:
- Develop detailed civil engineering design drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and related software.
- Provide consulting services to municipal/private clients and developers on infrastructure projects.
- Identify potential operational issues and optimize system designs for enhanced functionality.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards in final designs.
- Maintain and organize project files and drawings, ensuring accurate documentation and revisions.
- Assist with field inspections as needed to support project progress and compliance.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by the Department Head.
Your Qualifications
- Two+ years of experience in a civil engineering design, drafting or related role, with experience in municipal and linear infrastructure design. Field inspection experience is considered an asset.
- On the path to registration or currently registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist.
- A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited professional program.
- Proficient in the use of Office Suite products (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience with software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required, along with strong drafting skills, including experience with templates, drawing setup, and production.
- Proven capabilities in writing reports and other technical documents.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- A valid driver's license is required.
