Overview

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the University Photographer/Videographer will lead the planning, production and capture of photographic and video content that conveys the StFX narrative in an authentic, captivating and memorable way. From event coverage to creating compelling content for prospective students, the University Photographer/Videographer performs a vital role in advancing the university's brand and reputation.

The nature of the work may require the Incumbent to work non-standard hours which includes evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute high-quality photo and video projects for various StFX events, recruitment efforts, fundraising campaigns, and other university initiatives
  • Work closely with key departments, including Advancement, Recruitment, and the President's Office, to understand their multimedia needs
  • Collaborate on content strategies that support the university's brand and strategic objectives, developing compelling visual stories that resonate with diverse audiences
  • Lead the creative direction of all photo and video projects, translating client objectives into engaging, visual narratives
  • Develop and manage production schedules, including detailed workback schedules, to ensure that projects meet deadlines and are delivered on time
  • Demonstrate proficiency with a wide range of photo and video equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio recording tools
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive digital archive of all university multimedia asset
  • Ensure that all photos and video footage are edited and curated promptly after each project, aligning with the specific deadlines set by internal clients

Recruit, train and manage a team of student photographers and videographers. This initiative provides students with hands-on experience in photo and video production, while also supporting the university's strategic needs for visual content

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in photography and videography, preferably in a higher education, non-profit, or similar setting
  • Proven experience in planning, producing, and editing high-quality photo and video content for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with professional photo and video equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio recording tools
  • Advanced skills in photo and video editing software
  • Knowledge of digital asset management systems and practices for organizing and archiving multimedia content
  • Strong creative vision with the ability to lead and execute visual storytelling that aligns with strategic brand objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage production schedules, including detailed workback plans to meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders to understand and fulfill multimedia needs
  • Proven track record of leading and managing photo and video projects from conception to final delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful visual content
