Addictions Officer - Regional Suicide Prevention Coordinator
Temporary Full-time Until 30 September 2025, With Possibility of Extension
Mental Health and Addictions, Western Zone - Location to be determined
As part of the regional Mental Health and Addictions Promotion & Prevention Team, the Regional Suicide Prevention Coordinator will provide advanced leadership in the development, coordination, planning, and implementation of specialized mental health promotion, suicide prevention, and life promotion initiatives as identified in the Provincial Action Plan to Promote Life and Prevent Suicide, Provincial Alcohol Action Plan, and other related strategies. The Regional Suicide Prevention Coordinator will assess community needs, research appropriate initiatives, and implement and evaluate programming. The position will work with various stakeholders to promote best practices in suicide prevention and facilitate the development of local and regional partnerships/networks. This role will lead awareness, education, and training initiatives. The Regional Suicide Prevention Coordinator will collaborate with the Department of Health and Community Services and counterparts in other NLHS Zones to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the provincial Action Plan to Promote Life and Prevent Suicide.
This position operates within a changing environment where health is monitored and influenced by current research practices in health promotion, population health, health and social policy, and health and social service delivery systems.
The Regional Suicide Prevention Coordinator may be required to adjust hours occasionally to facilitate activities outside of regular work hours. This position reports to the Program Manager for the Prevention and Promotion Team. Travel within the Western Zone will be required.
Required Qualifications:
o Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, or a related Graduate Degree in a clinical discipline, such as Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, or related degree is required.
o Registration with appropriate registration body, if applicable.
o A minimum of three (3) years of experience out of the last five (5) years working in the Mental Health and Addictions field, with a focus on Health Promotion, including experience utilizing a health promotion framework to inform policy changes and develop initiatives to enhance population health outcomes, is required.
o Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of suicide prevention/life promotion initiatives is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is a requirement for this position.

Hours of work: 75 Hours per pay period
0830 to 1630 Hours; Flexibility required for evenings and weekends.
Salary: $37.94 to $42.46 per Hour
