The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst Logistics to join our Supply Chain team in St. John's.

This is a permanent position, working a Monday to Friday schedule working primarily from the St John's office

As a Senior Analyst Logistics, you will Lead and be responsible for all VNL (Long Harbour and Voisey's Bay) inbound and outbound logistics activities associated with intermediate feeds, reagents and material.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Provide expediting services and warehouse logistics support. Work collaboratively with the scheduling of the MV Umiak (Ice Breaker Vessel), Aviation Activities within Eastern Canada and associated freight coordination using these systems, as it relates to the flow of goods to Newfoundland and Quebec Port and Stevedoring activities, third party Warehousing for VNL, and the associated external labour and internal resources required to execute work.
  • Provide technical expertise and subject matter expert support in the handling of dangerous goods & hazard/risk management.
  • Ensure that planned work is within boundaries to safely operate without negative impact to employees, the contractor, the business, the environment, and the community.
  • Work collaboratively with the shipping schedule updates for international acid ships, the MV Umiak or other ships as necessary & as dictated by changes in weather & cargo, delivery requirements and route to key stakeholders.
  • Oversee aviation cargo logistics for both the mine site and processing plant, and contracts form moving people and material (food, freight, life line equipment) to and from remote locations, and continuity in services while also supporting the Voisey's Bay Mine Expansion.
  • Review the status of work systems and KPI's to prioritize planning activities for approved work within area(s) of responsibility daily while working collaboratively with other plants and divisions to achieve operational & project goals.
  • Other duties as required.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or related

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience

Skills:

  • Logistics & Supply Chain related experience.
  • Budgeting and contract management skills, as well as a strong analytical background in either process improvement, six-sigma, or concentration in other post-secondary or analytics courses.
  • Experience with computerized software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Peoplesoft, SAP.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with regards to cycle times for materials, shipping & transportation and impact of the items on resource requirements and cost.
  • Experience & training for the transportation of dangerous goods, and freight management in both harsh and remote climates.
  • Good communications skills are required as well as the ability to multitask, change priorities, problem solve and resolve conflict
