Here's where you'll be focusing:

As a Senior Applications Developer with Sobeys, you will:

  • Assists Tech Lead, Solution Architects, and Business Solutions Engagement Team Analysts to the conceptualize, estimate, and develop new software programs and solutions.
  • Translates user requirements into solution designs and defines functional, technical, and operational requirements.
  • Documents and presents how the solution's specific features, characteristics, functionality, and design will meet business requirements.
  • Provides End-User and Operational System Support documentation.
  • Updates Management and Scrum Leads on progress, risks, issues, and defects during the solution delivery phase.
  • Assists the Scrum Lead in updating and prioritizing the Team Backlog and participates in Scrum sessions.
  • Analyzes and amends software to correct defects in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Delivers high quality and performance driven solutions within project timelines.
  • Creates unit, integration, and performance test plans with detailed test cases and records test results.
  • Consistently writes and tests solutions to the original estimate without errors and conforming to best practice.
  • Develops and Tests Software Application Solutions in a project team/task-based environment.
  • Enhances, supports, and documents software solution and specifications throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Provides exceptional application support to end-users.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation and supports other on-call teammates after hours.
  • Educates and provides guidance and support for non-senior developers.
  • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities for the team.

  • An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a College Diploma and a minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in troubleshooting and support
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Experience with software development and solution delivery methodologies including Scrum, Agile, and Lean.
  • Strong experience in working with business in leveraging technology to meet business goals and requirements.
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team environment.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to be highly self-motivated and focused.
  • Ability to pay keen attention to detail.
  • Experience working with differing operating systems (Windows/AIX)
  • Experience with a variety of Scripting and Programming Languages (C++, Delphi, .Net, Korn Shell, PCL, 4gl an asset).
  • Experience with Database Systems and SQL Syntax (DB2, Oracle, Informix an asset).
  • Experience with SAP Retail (ECC and SAP S/4 an asset).
