Purpose:

The incumbent is part of the Confirmations & Settlements Operations (CSO) team, which is responsible for servicing the Bank's Capital markets. The team services the Bank's clients in Canada, the US, the UK, SIDAC, APAC and Latin America. The incumbent will be responsible for Brokerage Invoice processing related functions within Sustainment & Control team of CSO by working with our team members and stakeholder groups.

The incumbent will be:

• Accountable for reconciliation, trader approvals and payments for all the brokerage invoices received by CSO covering Derivatives, Futures, FX, Money Market, Cash Equity, Energy and Precious Metals.
• Accountable to streamline and enhance brokerage invoice processing within CSO teams.
• Accountable to ensure payments are made on time to various brokerages.
• Accountable to ensure metrics are published in a centralized way around brokerage invoice processing.
• Assist with audit requests.
• Escalate as required.

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

• Reconcile payments and accounting entries for Brokerage Invoices covering Derivatives, Futures, FX, Money Market, Cash Equity, Energy and Precious Metals.

• Responsible for managing and addressing day-to-day discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Identifying and Implementing changes to operating procedures to increase efficiency and minimize inherent risk to the bank.

• Streamline and enhance brokerage invoice processing within CSO teams.

• Solving problems of an unusual nature including identifying the cause and what is required to prevent recurrence.

• Ability to analyze cross departmental processes which may have created the exception and understand action required to resolve.

• Drive a culture of ongoing process improvements through team collaboration, innovation, and transformation.

• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of capital markets products and operations.
• Experience in capital markets.
• Excellent communication skills, with strong negotiation and strategic influencing skills.
• Expert knowledge of Bank's products, policies, and services.
• Good understanding and awareness of strategic and tactical business planning and executional issues/processes.
• Experienced in how reconciliations work and driven operational efficiency.
• Able to deliver results on time.
• Adaptability to operate in a rapidly changing environment regarding policies, procedures, automation, and client needs.
• Very good analytical & problem-solving skills and sound judgment needed to critically examine reconciliations, their operations & processes including in depth knowledge of the settlement department processes and inputs from up and downstream systems.
• Undergraduate degree in Business

Work Arrangement:


• Standard office-based environment or hybrid of in-office and remote
• Non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
• The securities industry is a complex business and operates within a quasi-structured but rapidly changing environment with very tight deadlines where errors can result in substantial losses.
