Black & McDonald Limited (Atlantic Region) is actively seeking an Electrical / Civil Project Coordinator. This position reports directly to the Utility Project Manager for the Dartmouth, NS location. The position involves working on a full range of projects which would include commercial, government and institutional markets.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership for assigned projects regarding cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contract performance
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards as per company policy and contract specifications
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders including Black & McDonald team members, clients, consultants, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community, while keeping them informed of relevant information
  • Plan, prepare, monitor, and manage construction schedule and milestones
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable standards - i.e. HSE regulations, company policies and procedures, and contract requirements
  • Monitor and report on progress, labour productivity, work outcomes, budget, cost, and forecast
  • Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies
  • Order material and equipment for the projects
  • Ensure monthly cost forecasting and checklists are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensure accurate productivity reports are completed weekly
  • Prepare estimates of materials, labour and equipment based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
  • Travel to various worksites or client locations
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Project Management.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of in the Electrical / Civil Industry would be considered an asset.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Business operations processes
  • Organization and time management
  • Must be able to obtain a Level II Secret clearance
  • Willing and able to travel throughout NS as needed

Intermediate user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Procore (Considered an asset)
