Salary: $22,114 per annum (SEIU Administrative Assistant 2). Salary increases to $24,648 following successful completion of 6-month probation period. (Annual salary rates based on a 20 hour per week schedule and will be prorated for the 8-month sessional term.)

Responsibilities

This is a recurring 8-month sessional position with a schedule of 20 hours per week from September 1 to April 30 each year.

Acadia is seeking a Postmaster in the Department of Financial Services to administer the University's postal and courier services for all departments, staff, and faculty.

Reporting to the Manager, Procurement and Risk Management, the Postmaster coordinates incoming and internal distribution of mail to departments and employees of the University, and processes all outgoing mail accurately and efficiently, extending courteous and attentive service to all customers.

In addition, the Postmaster is the key operational resource for all equipment, technology and supplies within the mail services areas, and the main contact to Canada Post and courier companies.

The position is responsible for capturing and maintaining accurate records for all parcel and registered mail deliveries to ensure proper tracking and billing.

In addition, the position may provide assistance in other areas of the department if required.

Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Canada Post and Canada Customs regulations would be an asset.

  • Completion of a recognized program in either office or business administration is preferred, though related work experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to a high level of accuracy while maintaining confidentiality. Flexible to fluctuating volumes of work.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Must be able to handle packages weighing up to 40 lbs.

  • Familiarity with Acadia's campus and administrative procedures would be considered an asset.
