Meridia is excited to partner with Empire Media+ in the search for a talented leader to take on the role of Director, Retail Media Sales.

Role Description

As a part of the Retail Media Network team, the Director, Retail Media Sales, will lead a team of talented Account Executives (AEs), setting ambitious annual media plans and revenue goals, while establishing best practices for data-driven sales. You will oversee the creation of compelling sales materials and pitches, drive new sales opportunities, and manage a robust sales pipeline to ensure continued growth. Your leadership will ensure that our approach remains innovative and client-focused, contributing to the ongoing success and expansion of Empire Media

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly meet and consult with key advertiser leaders, including those in brand marketing and sales, in collaboration with the merchandising team. Maintain and strengthen these relationships through strategic interactions and attendance at industry events.
  • Establish and implement best practices that prioritize insights-driven and data-centric approaches in sales and client communication.
  • Manage strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, including coordinating weekly meetings with Merchandising & Sourcing, Planners, and Ad Operations to ensure seamless collaboration and effective execution.
  • Provide leadership to a team of Account Executives (AEs), guiding them in the creation of impactful sales materials and pitches; Oversee their efforts to secure annual commitments and manage ongoing campaigns.
  • Develop and set comprehensive annual media plans and revenue/profit goals for the team and individual accounts, including opportunities to upsell existing accounts.
  • Design and implement communications strategies for new sales opportunities, such as introducing new ad placements and innovative advertising solutions.
  • Manage and supervise annual commitment discussions with account executives, ensuring that all agreements are effectively negotiated and aligned with the company's strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, closely monitoring progress, especially for new advertisers joining the Retail Media Network (RMN).

Your Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you bring over 10 years of experience in a fast-paced, analytical, and client-facing environment, with a proven track record of people leadership. You possess advanced knowledge of digital advertising, media, and/or publishing. You have a proven track record of effective collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders, showcasing a capacity to align diverse efforts towards achieving client and organizational goals. In addition, you have exceptional leadership skills, strategic vision, and a commitment to fostering productive relationships in a dynamic media landscape.

Your qualifications include:

  • 10+ years in a fast-paced, analytical, and client-facing role, with significant management experience.
  • An advanced understanding of digital advertising, media, and/or publishing; prior experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to produce actionable insights, provide expert counsel, and develop strategic plans aligned with advertisers' business objectives.
  • Strong track record of successful collaboration with both internal teams and external partners, effectively driving towards shared client and organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving business goals through strategic planning, effective communication, and innovative problem-solving.
