Department of Human Resources

(Two-Year Contractual Position)

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Manager, Client and Advisory Services, and working collaboratively with a team of human resources (HR) functional experts and departmental administrators, this human resources generalist role will provide direct service and HR solutions to the departmental partners including organizational planning and effectiveness, skills development, recruitment and succession planning, collective agreement interpretation, issues management, attendance management, employee counseling, salary administration, return-to-work and accommodation management; long-term disability case management. The incumbent will be responsible for facilitating organizational change; recommending revisions to existing processes or policies in order to more effectively meet human resource challenges; participating on committees; and performing other related duties as required.


THE CANDIDATE

Experience of a progressively responsible nature in human resource management; graduation with a degree from an approved college or university with major coursework in human resources, labour relations or business administration is required; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will have considerable professional human resources experience in managing human resources services and programs. In addition to excellent communication and interpersonal skills, required competencies include demonstrated effectiveness in the areas of problem solving; creative and strategic thinking; planning and project management; group or process facilitation. The successful applicant is expected to possess a strong focus on results; a commitment to a team approach; as well as the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects. A Master's degree in Employment Relations, Business or a related field is an asset.

SALARY $66,092 - $90,126 per annum (Management and Professional)
