Registered Nurse IIC (Care Facilitator), Temporary Full-Time (Approximately 12 Months with possibility of extension), Emergency/ICU, James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander

Definition of work:
This is a professional nursing leadership position with responsibility for directing and coordinating primary care nursing, as Central Health's model of care delivery. This position requires extensive experience and current knowledge of all aspects of emergency and intensive care and the follow-up services within the community. Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care Services, the candidate will work closely with patients/clients/residents and families, front-line staff, physicians, pharmacists, and other members of the health care team to ensure the provision of safe, quality care according to current best practice guidelines. The candidate will provide leadership, mentoring and support to nurses in an environment which promotes and enhances the strategic direction of the organization, aligned with the implementation of a quality person and family centered care approach. The facilitator is a member of various committees and is accountable for monitoring and improving key nursing performance indicators such as leadership rounding, nursing bedside handover, safety huddles, communication-white board completion and NOD compliance.

This position functions as team lead and is responsible for participation in and coordination of a collaborative approach to clinician rounds, maintaining a visible leadership presence on the nursing unit and ensuring delivery of patient education and teaching programs. The facilitator will assist in the development of nursing staff as part of succession planning and leadership support and will be required to direct staff regarding care plans and nursing practice. The care facilitator is a key role in the nursing unit structure and will support the facilitation of patient/client flow, ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix on the unit, and at times, provide direct nursing care.

The facilitator must demonstrate leadership competencies that are aligned with the LEADS framework and live the mission and values of Central Health. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Undergraduate degree in nursing, or willingness to complete. Candidates without the undergraduate degree must complete a minimum of two courses per year.
* Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
* Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience, two (2) of which must have been within the last four (4) years in emergency or intensive care.
* Current BLS certification for health care providers from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
* Current ACLS certification
* Current PALS, CTAS and TNCC.
* Completion of the ER/ICU course.
* CNA certification in critical care or emergency nursing or willingness to complete.
* Demonstrated;
* consistent professional approach,
* commitment to the organizational values and displays those values in all components of work,
* strong leadership ability,
* knowledge of the principles of staff development and performance reviews,
* ability to manage conflict,
* understanding of lean improvement methodologies,
* commitment to personal continuing education,
* ability to work with computers including the Meditech system,
* superior written and verbal communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.

* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the local police authority.

* Conflict resolution training.
* Lean green belt training.
* Nursing leadership course.
* LEADS training.

Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: NS -32 ($44.59-$55.24)
