As part of the Transmission Civil department, the Carpenter CQ provides technical direction and supervision to civil employees, laborers and the public to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient construction as well as the installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of NB Power structures.

Key functions include:
• Provide technical leadership and support to employees through all Civil parts of capital and maintenance projects from start to finish. This includes reading and interpreting drawings, standards, work methods, environmental issues, ordering materials, and any other related project work.
• Effectively organize, coordinate, prepare, and layout project construction sites to ensure cost-effective, timely completion of projects. Collaborate with other NB Power construction crews and contractors as well as supervise the work to ensure specifications are met.
• Ensure that all operating practices and Corporate Health & Safety Rules and Regulations are followed at all times to secure the safety of employees and other personnel onsite.

The ideal teammate will have:
• Carpenter CQ
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License

Combined with:
• Two years of civil and construction work experience, post-certification
• Two years of experience working with formwork, rebar and concrete
• Experience working in energized yards

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
