Meridia is excited to be partnering with Neocon to recruit a Production Supervisor to lead the team on the Night Shift in their Dartmouth facility.
Role Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Night Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production floor, ensuring an efficient workflow, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the achievement of production targets. This role involves managing a team of production workers, coordinating with other departments, and implementing process improvements to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead a team of production workers, including machine operators, assemblers, and quality inspectors; promote a positive work environment and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Oversee production activities, ensuring schedules are completed on time and product quality is maintained.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality metrics, and downtime.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to resolve any issues, implementing quality control procedures and conducting regular inspections.
- Enforce safety policies, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure compliance with regulations including OSHA and company-specific standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to increase efficiency and reduce waste; participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities; prepare and present reports on production metrics, quality, and safety.
- Supervisor will need to effectively communicate with shift changeover/maintenance personnel, industrial planning and operations on a daily basis to relay production, quality, schedule or safety concerns that have arisen.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a manufacturing environment, with several years in a team lead or supervisory role. A relevant educational background (Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, or a related field) is considered an asset. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is an asset. The candidate should possess excellent leadership and team management skills, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are also crucial.
Your qualifications include:
- Years of working in a manufacturing environment, with proven supervisory experience.
- A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, or a related field is an asset but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, including HR and performance evaluations.
- A strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Effective communication, problem solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role may require lifting, carrying, and moving heavy materials and equipment.
