As part of the Distribution System Operations team, the GIS Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely updating of the Customer Service GIS database which will ensure safe operation of the grid in the distribution control room and in the field.
Key functions include:
• Performing maintenance on NB Power Electrical Geodatabase data, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of the datasets with the ability to identify issues in incoming data ensuring it meets topological and attribution requirements and using GIS scripts and tools to perform the QA/QC process.
• Following established data flow while enforcing GIS standards and complying with all corporate safety health and environmental rules and operating procedures supporting organization-wide GIS operations.
• Participating in development and testing interfaces and documenting items/issues to be addressed in later projects and working with users of the GIS connected applications.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Diploma in one of the following disciplines:
o Geomatics Engineering
o Computer Science
o Information Technology
o Geomatics
o GIS
• Three years of related GIS work experience including one or a combination of the following:
o ESRI ArcGIS Suite 10.6 or higher maintaining spatial data
o Software configuration
o QA/QC of data
o Working with the data contained in an Enterprise Geodatabase
• The following would be considered ASSETS:
o Professional designation e.g. GISP, P.Eng
o Experience with Utility Network
o Experience with ArcFM
o Experience with Advanced Distribution Systems particularly OSI software
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
