JOB PURPOSE
The Radiation Therapist 3, with minimal supervision is responsible for developing, interpreting, implementing new processes and guidelines as it relates to the therapist in CT SIM and the treatment units. They are expected to participate in each site group and maintain the standard guidelines as it relates to each region treated in collaboration with medical physicist, dosimetrist, and oncologists.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Active member in good standing with CAMRT
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in radiation therapy and demonstrated leadership ability is required
- Graduate of accredited school of Radiation Therapy
- Knowledgeable in developing policies, radiation therapy procedures and techniques, treatment planning and calculation software, radiation and workplace health and safety, Quality assurance practices and guidelines including occurrence reporting
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Medical Physicists, Dosimetrists, and Radiation Oncologists in relation to new and existing standard guidelines for each region treated and communicate while educating therapist group.
- Maintain existing process and clinical tasks relating to CT SIM and treatment units.
- Active therapist on treatment units.
- Responsible for training of existing and new therapists where required and for coordinating student rotations and labs when necessary.
- Provides direction and makes decisions regarding technical problems and consults with Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist.
- Participates in continuing education to ensure therapists become fully competent in the utilization of new equipment through appropriate training and in services: Revise current treatment techniques and coordinates upgrading.
- Liaises and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team regarding radiation therapy issues including the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure patient and staff safety practices, policies comply with CNSC guidelines.
